As a person dedicated to writing a blog every week, I don’t write many “traditional blog posts.” By that, I mean what most blogs used to be when everyone had one in the early days of the internet: people giving life updates to their friends and family. This week, I thought it might be different to do one.
If you didn’t know, my wife Jackie and I spent all of 2023 living around the country while she took travel physical therapy placements. When we returned at the end of the year, we were dedicated to figuring out the next step in our careers. Most of 2024 was spent investing in that decision, which for us meant Jackie finding a clinic she would love working at and for me, going back into teaching. Thankfully, we both made those dreams come to life. She found an amazing position in Loveland and I was able to find a teaching position in Cincinnati.
I’m halfway through my third year of teaching after taking about a short break from it, and I’m loving it. I’m teaching social studies at Mt. Healthy, an urban high school on the west side of Cincinnati. It was certainly not an easy transition, but once I got back into the swing of things, I knew that I was in the right place. I get to teach content I enjoy, have great coworkers, and have met some amazing students along the way.
But there’s more than just career changes that led me to sharing an update: my wife and I are also expecting a baby boy this May! As of today, Jackie is 24 weeks. I’m beyond excited (and occasionally nervous) to welcome him into our world.
All that to say, we are grateful for the past year of incredible changes and transitions that life has brought us. God has tested us and blessed us, and no matter what we’ve gone through, I’ve learned to trust him in it. As I look ahead, I move forward with hope, knowing that He will continue to lead us with grace and strength.
